Be Skin Savvy #25 – “Soft Focus, Beauty Face” A few years ago I got my first smart phone and was rather pleased to see it had a camera. However, it wasnt until sometime in early 2016 that I indulged in the fine art of selfies, or should I say posting selfies! Lol…Anyway, my wonderful Japanese phone comes complete with an automatic setting called “Beauty Face” (for some reason I always expect this to be said out loud in a foriegn accent which is unlike mine), when pointed at a human ( and yes I have tested it on dolls, it does know the difference). And, as flattering as this setting is, it also basically erases every fine line, wrinkle, pimple, and dark spot on the skin. In fact I have never looked so perfect, or have I ??? And seriously who am I trying to Kid? Of cousre I love the comments “You look fabulous Darling “, “My God! you still look 20 how do you do it?” or my favorite “You haven’t aged a bit!” or is it my favorite? Why dont I want to look my age? am I embarressed by my imperfections? Shouldn’t I be wearing them as a badge of honor, a visual story of my life. All the ups and all the downs, the sun damage from growing up 7 miles from the beach and sailing the Caribbean, the lines from much laughing and much crying, the wrinkles from stress and worry and of course smiling. So what is my point here? Should we not edit or soften? Of course we should if it pleases us but dont become delusional… or stressed when you look in the mirror and see the real you with all your perfect imperfections! Come in and see me for some of those minor imperfections, the sun damage and blemishes, come in and see me to massage away the stress and tension come in and see me to inspire you to be the beautiful you that you are! and when you take your next selfie and post your next profile picture remember its your personality that should be shinig through
