Be Skin Savvy #6

Be Skin Savvy #6

Be Skin Savvy #6 – Needle or Knife? Being a woman of a certain age, and in the beauty business, I often toy with the idea of plastic surgery, for maintenance not for change. But which way do you go? And do you really want to?? When I look at others I feel the ones who look best are the ones who look happy in their own skin. Yes, they are well groomed, relaxed, they have and do look after their insides and outside, and they radiate a certain glow. They look more youthful than those who have tried to force youth back into their lives. They are aging with grace. I am not opposed to a little nip and tuck, or a little Botox and filler, but this is an area where less is definitely more. Back in the 90’s my husband and I went to Ravinia, a glorious summer evening, and a lady approached us about being on her patch of grass! (??) I kept thinking that she resembled a goldfish but I couldn’t work out why (this was a time before Botox and Brazilian wax were used regularly and in the same sentence….no-one really knew what either were!) at some point in the evening I realized that apart from her mouth her entire face was frozen, did she look wrinkle free? Yes. But, she also looked ridiculous, like a very surprised a goldfish. I often wonder how she looks today. So yes do it, or not, but remember you just want to look like you but better. As for me, I’m still toying with the idea, but if I do I just want to look like me, not the me of my 20’s, but the me of today, and I want everyone to wonder if I did or am I aging gracefully…..
